Killer mastiff prompts call for tougher law on dogs

A council called for stricter control of dog ownership today after after a woman was savaged to death by a mastiff so ferocious that it had to be beaten back by police with riot shields. When paramedics reached Barbara Williams they found her so badly mauled that she was pronounced dead at the scene of the attack at her home in South London
